Our capital city, Darwin, is a mix of open-air markets, museums and laid-back outdoor living. Experience world-class Barramundi fishing or take a short trip to unwind under a free-flowing waterfall at Litchfield National Park.
Bring your camera and a sense of adventure to Kakadu National Park. As you walk, fly, drive or tour the park you will see exotic wildlife, rare Aboriginal rock art, wide rivers and soaring waterfalls.
The outback meets the tropics at Katherine. Head into nearby Nitmiluk National Park to swim or paddle a canoe on the Katherine River or hike overlooking the gorge and the water below.
Wander around the Devils Marbles, huge granite boulders that are scattered across the Barkly Tablelands. Enjoy uninterrupted views of the stars when you pitch a tent at campgrounds around Tennant Creek, in reserves, or working cattle stations.
Don't miss seeing Uluru (Ayers Rock) - Australia's most recognisable (and perhaps most photographed) landmark. It is located in the heart of central Australia, and near the equally magnificent Kata Tjuta (The Olgas) and Watarraka National Park, home to the mighty chasms of Kings Canyon.
Alice Springs is Australia's most famous outback town. Enjoy world famous indigenous art at town galleries or buy direct from the artist at a nearby community art centre. Indulge your sense of adventure and hike the world famous Larapinta Trail or tour the surrounding MacDonnell Ranges by bicycle.
